French Riviera

Yesterday was another travel day.  We did stop off at a French perfumerie called Fragonard.  We got to learn how perfumes are made and then got to go shopping in their store.  Lots of amazing smelling things there!  Lilac is one of my favorite scents, and they didn't have any that included that but there were some delightful Lily of the Valley and Violet smelling ones.

For the evening we could either stay in or go to a place called Wayne's Bar.  It seemed a typical bar, lots of people, live band, that is until about 11pm... The live band moved to "the pit" where our tables were, and after about 2 songs, people were literally dancing on the tables.  Not because they were trashed, and there were no lampshades involved.  That's what this place is known for, the seats and benches got pushed under the table to clear the aisle, and people danced -all- night on the tables.  The band was excellent, and it was a great experience!

This was our free day in Nice, I enjoyed the ocean, and a bit of sightseeing, but not much.  I'm working on a pretty killer backpack tan.  I didn't take my camera out during the day but have a few photos from Monaco!

For dinner we went to Monaco.  If you don't know, the Monaco Grand Prix is happening right now, and most of the guys on the bus were drooling at the cars.  We walked up to the Prince's Palace and had dinner at a place just off the plaza, then walked down to the Grand Prix track where there were some bumping parties happening!  We made our way to the Monte Carlo Casino.  Some people went a bit crazy, but it was fun to look at such an opulent space!  No photos allowed, so I have nothing to show for it, but it was a lot of fun.

On an odd note:
You can't buy any sort of medicine from anywhere but a pharmacy.  Today I made my first trip to one, because my ankles have been the size of grapefruits!  Holy moly.  They weren't painful, but a little sore.  Someone said it was cause I was retaining water, not sure, but hoping for smaller ankles soon!
